Magic scratch art

It occurs to me that these posts don’t need lengthy explanations.

All you need is an idea, a list of materials,

A few photos and the odd tip.

That should do the trick so no more chats.

Let’s start again.

ICE EXPERIMENT

Ice experiment

icewow

All it takes is 3 ingredients.

What we used

Ice

Salt

Food colour

icew

What we did

First we filled various different sized containers with water.

We used dishes, bowls and lunch boxes for a variety of ice shapes.

The bigger the better.

Then i squished them into the freezer overnight.

Next day

I poured a little hot water over the containers to loosen the ice

and then popped the ice out into glass dishes so that there wouldn’t be puddles everywhere.

Now for the fun

The boys poured generous amounts of table salt over the ice.

They were amazed at the instant sound effects.

Next we dropped colours into the crevices to highlight the erosion.

The absolute best thing about this experiment for me was the crackling of the ice when we poured the salt on.

And Oh My look at those colours, the colours were BEAUTIFUL.

When the ice melted we

were left with beautiful dishes of coloured water to play with.

This experiment is to show the effects of salt on ice and it was

really interesting to see and hear how the salt speeds up the melting process.

HALLOWEEN SILHOUETTES

Welcome back!! I love October and I especially love Halloween.

In our house we love dressing up and we love decorating the windows to frighten passers by.

There’s no better time to start crafting with the kids. Let’s go.

Check out these spooky silhouettes that we’ve made.

Here’s what we used:

Here’s what we did:

We drew scary shapes on the card such as; cats, bats, ghosts, pumpkins.

You could draw a tree, a crow, the moon, a hand, what else can you think of?

Next we cut out the shape and taped it to a stick.

Easy as that.

.hs

They can be great puppets–

but wait until it gets dark and then the real fun begins.

Turn out the lights.

Shine your torch behind your spook.

Now beware of the shadows!

OOoooohh
